Taichan

Taichan is not a new name in Jakarta's Japanese restaurant map.. however, for no specific reason, I haven't got the chance to try it.. until last week, when I visited Pondok Indah Mall.. my friend and I were looking for a place to have our late lunch and I noticed Taichan which was located right in front of the cinema.. curious about their cuisine, I persuaded him to have our lunch there.. the restaurant was not too big.. and not much I can tell about the decoration other than simple tables and chairs with a glass cupboard displaying menu replicas.. as we arrived, around 3 p.m, the place was almost empty..


my lunch mate told me that this restaurant serves great curry, so I decided to play safe.. our orders were chicken katsu curry (Rp64,500) for him and beef katsu curry (Rp70,500) for me a long with a cup of hot green tea (Rp17,000) for each of us.. lucky for our hungry tummy, the food took just a few minutes to arrive on our table.. it looked so appetizing.. a huge portion of curry gravy on top of katsu and hot rice, accompanied with soup and salad was definitely pleasing my eyes.. I had my first spoon of curry and I was so glad that it tasted just as good as it looked.. the curry gravy was very delicious and yummy.. it tasted perfectly balanced and not too thick.. my beef katsu was as good as I wanted it to be, crunchy outside and tender inside.. I finished my whole meal, completely forgot that I was on diet haha..


well, overall, I had a hearty lunch at Taichan.. good service, good food and good friend.. will definitely come back to try their other cuisine.. oh and by the way, the prices above are subject to 15.5% tax & service..
