Ayam Suwir Si Kentung

Jakarta has been one hell of a busy city.. We, Jakartans, are challenged to juggle between our jobs, hobby and sneaking some gym time to maintain our health.. Not to add the horrible traffic we had to face every day.. Each day we are required to get up earlier just to avoid those time-consuming journey from home to office.. And I think it's my main reason that I cannot prepare my home-made lunch.. I have woke up too early and I cannot afford an earlier schedule to sneak in the lunch preparation.. Excuse, you may say, but I bet I'm not alone haha..

To my difficult situation, I was introduced to Ayam Suwir Si Kentung, ready-to-eat, freshly cooked shredded chicken packed in 250gr plastic bag, cost only for 30k each plus delivery fee.. It's enough for four meals of a single person.. 

Now what is in those plastic bag? Like I've mentioned above, it's filled with 250gr of spiced, cooked ready-to-eat shredded chicken, available in original and spicy flavor.. All you have to do is put them up in the microwave or heat them up on the stove for a while.. Serve them on top of hot steamed rice.. And voila.. Your lunch is ready! Life is so much simpler now.. I can easily brought the package and steamed rice to office then heat them up in office's microwave..

How about the taste, you ask? Well, it's delicious! I am a fan of their original flavor.. The spicy one was really giving kick to your tongue.. You can see chili chunks here and there.. So for you, who do not fancy spicy food, please have their original ones.. Moreover,the fact that it's shredded chicken, makes it easier for me to eat with no dirty hands involved..

I had a nice, healthy lunch with Ayam Suwir Si Kentung.. Do not worry about the hygiene and freshness of the chicken as they were cooked right before delivered to your door.. Good food, great taste and smart price are the perfect combination for a hearty lunch.. I heart you :)

as time went by, I realized that the life here in Jakarta can be really stressful.. the work loads, the social pressure, not to mention the terrible traffic and a short getaway is just what I need.. of course, I would love to travel further and see the world, but in the mean time, I am still thankful for a short trip to Bogor, the rain city where I can rest my mind for a while.. Now let me welcome you to Cimory Riverside..

this place is beautifully located on the side of Ciliwung river, creating a very lovely atmosphere.. imagine having your weekend in the cold weather of Puncak, hearing the water flowing sound and surrounded by people you love.. heavenly! as always, Cimory always managed to fill in their restaurant with lots of cow accessories.. just look how cute they are welcoming me..

I came here with my mom and brother during a coffee break time.. and we were not too hungry that  we prefer to have some light meals.. I had strawberry juice (Rp26,500) while my brother had blueberry yogurt shake (Rp25,500) and we shared a portion of fried mushrooms (Rp29,500).. my strawberry juice was thick and pure which I love.. though I forgot to order it unsweetened, but it was still a good strawberry juice.. my brother's blueberry yogurt shake was not my favorite.. combining yogurt and blueberry juice was not my thing.. I prefer fresh juices to yogurt shake..

as for the fried mushrooms, you can definitely see that the serving size was way too small for such a price.. I was disappointed, in terms of serving size and taste.. I even made a conclusion for my next visit not to order any food there and stick to the drinks.. atmosphere-wise, it was still really a beautiful afternoon well spent!

if you ask me what my choice of getaway near Jakarta.. I would definitely answer Bogor.. it's been a while since I went there, though.. so a few weeks ago, I took a one-day leave from office and take the ride with my mom to Bogor.. we planned to stop by to Cimory which was located on your way to reach Puncak from Bogor.. it was easily noticed on the left side of the road with the big cow statue.. I have heard about this place and was very eager to try.. 

as we walked in, I noticed it was a garden restaurant.. they separated the restaurant and a store selling milk and snacks.. you can even find a playground here.. I believe it was a perfect place for family.. one thing I love most was that in every corner you can find a touch of cow.. it was really cute.. 

well.. back to business.. Cimory offers various dishes, from Indonesian, eastern food to western food.. most of the main ingredients are self-produced by one of their subsidiaries.. I was in the mood for Indonesian food, therefore I ordered Fried Oxtail Soup (Rp39,500) while my mom picked German Bratwurst (Rp34,000)..

my oxtail soup was amazing.. it was really delicious.. the soup was tasty while the oxtail was very tender.. even the chili sauce did not disappoint me.. it was very hot though at first, I underestimated it haha.. mom's dish came in a huge portion.. a very long German sausage accompanied with fresh (not frozen) vegetables and fried potato.. the sausage was crunchy outside and tender inside.. but somehow it tasted a little boring after a while.. but I was quite satisfied with both dishes.. for drinks, I picked Cimory Coffee Milk (Rp6,900).. you can have your milk cold or ask the waiter to heat it up.. I prefer cold milk and it tasted really nice.. not too sweet and not tasteless.. a good companion for the meal :)

once we finished our lunch, we headed directly to Bogor.. dropping by at factory outlets and buy ourselves some Bogor special cuisine.. after a while, we got quite tired and a little hungry.. luckily my mom remembered a spot selling laksa bogor.. since I haven't tried it before, I agreed right away.. since it was around 3p.m, we decided to share a portion (Rp10,000).. it was a bowl of vermicelli, bean sprout, yellow tofu, basil leaves and oncom accompanied with crackers.. it tasted really good.. four thumbs up.. it was very refreshing, a little chili made it even better.. we ended up bought another portion taken away.. 

overall, I had a great time visiting Bogor.. a relaxing and refreshing day, really.. nice, clean weather away from my busy and hectic life.. gonna make this trip a habit :D

It's a post that has been in my draft for a long long time.. I've been quite busy lately and rather lazy to write a post or anything here haha.. anyway, this is a family lunch in Bogor on my brother's visit to Jakarta.. we had a large lunch as you can see..

we had Ikan Gurame Saus Thailand, Buncis Pedas, Cumi Cabe Garam, Nasi Jambal, Lemon Juice and Es Mangga Pala.. which cost us a total of approx 300thousands.. and it was WORTH it :) I especially love the Ikan Gurame Saus Thailand so much and my mom is challanged to make one herself - which she did in the end (YAYY!!) other dishes were also good but not really special.. what I like about eating in Bogor is most of the restaurant really consider the atmosphere of the restaurant.. in De' Leuit, they have saung which is a Sundanese little hut and some children's playground.. with the cool wheather in Bogor, it's really nice and cozy to have lunch there :) gonna come back some time in the future..
