Tin Pan Alley

"Eat, Drink, Be Merry" in capital bock letter, is welcoming me to a different side of Jakarta offered by Tin Pan Alley.. an American bistro, decorated in a sophisticated way.. this place definitely knows how to make me feel comfortable right away as I entered the room.. how can I not? the combination of brick walls, vintage tiles combined with brown leather sofa and dimmed lights is a complete package to win my heart.. I even wanted my living room to look like it.. the waiters are dressed in an old-fashion look, to match the whole bistro decoration..

the menu is quite extensive from salad, soup, appetizers, burgers & sandwiches, pasta and steaks, not to forget, desserts.. as it was a hot day, so we quickly ordered  drinks, strawberry lemonade (Rp35,000) for mum and happy days are here again (Rp39,000) for me.. to start our meal, we opted finger lickin' chicken wings (Rp55,000) while for mains we had tin pan alley burger (Rp75,000) and spaghetti with meatballs (Rp68,000)..

the strawberry lemonade was sour and refreshing.. the first sip was kicking and quite shocking.. but afterwards, it was one enjoyable drinks.. while my drink, happy days are here again is actually muddled kiwi fruit, mixed with passion fruit and shaken with fresh orange juice.. it tasted refreshing and quite sweet.. I must say, I love both drinks.. I think they really know how to spoil the customers with great drinks..

first food to arrived on our table was spaghetti with meatballs.. it was spaghetti pasta served with meatballs in marinara sauce and topped with shredded mozzarella cheese.. it sure looked appetizing, not too big though, in terms of portion.. it was a comfort meal, nothing could go wrong when you mixed pasta with tomato paste and meatballs.. the spaghetti was al dente and I love the juicy meatballs..

next, come the finger lickin' chicken wings.. I was quite unhappy since the chicken wings were supposed to appetizer and instead, they come second.. Tin Pan Alley's chicken wings are battered and deep-fried, dressed in homemade bold BBQ sauce.. it tasted just okay.. the sauce was a bit too sour for my liking.. the batter was not too crunchy and the chicken wings were huge, too huge that I was quite scared eating it..

lastly to arrive, after all of our two dishes are finished was the tin pan alley burger.. I did expect something special, since it was on the recommended list.. when it came, I was quite amazed to see the size of the burger, it was huge! towering up with the layers of beef patty, melted cheddar cheese, soft-fried eggs, topped with sauteed mushrooms and caramelized onions.. a satisfying portion of french fries and a small portion of salad completed the meal.. is it typical American bistro to serve huge portion of junk food and a tiny portion of the healthy salad? I must not judge, but I do wish they add more greens to the dish.. the beef patty was indeed delicious, juicy and tender, you get all that you expect from a patty, and the melted cheddar cheese was a perfect bonus along with the mushrooms and onions.. it was indeed a hearty meal.. I don't think you can ever go wrong with burgers..

overall, I think I had a good time in Tin Pan Alley.. a few disappointments here and there, but I still managed to go home smiling.. love the atmosphere and decoration so much.. definitely will go back for their drinks sections and perhaps, light bites :D
