Spinelli Coffee

an old friend has suggested me to try Spinelli Coffee since she was so crazy about it.. but somehow, I never remember or interested haha..  but anyway, on mother-daughter Satruday walk in Gandaria City, we finally decided to give it a try.. as my mom is a coffee-expert, I was quite nervous bringing her to new coffee shop as she will complain the whole time when I brought her somewhere she doesn't like haha..

Spinelli Coffee in Gandaria City was decorated in modern style, wooden furniture with red-grey cushions combined with comfortable greenish sofas placed on the corner of the coffee shop.. not too crowded, the place looked very nice and comfortable.. typical coffee shop, nowadays.. with tag line fuel for tought, I kinda have a good feeling about this place.. it offers free wi-fi with password written at the bottom of your bill.. 

it's a self-service coffee shop, so you have to place your orders and take your coffee once they're ready to your seat.. my mom picked the classic hot cappucino - medium (Rp29,500) while I picked their blended ice drinks, caramel spin (Rp37,000).. first, my mom thoughts.. she is amazed (lucky me) haha.. she said that the coffee smelled so good, and tasted even better than Starbucks.. she enjoys drinking here so much.. my caramel spin was also good, not too outstanding though since it was a little too sweet for me.. but I do love their coffee and the place was filled with coffee smells which I really loved..

Golden Egg Tart Bakery

here's a quick post.. my mom was craving for Portuguese egg tart and I was quite confused looking for it.. the last time, I noticed a place selling Portuguese egg tart was Lisboa, but the stall was closed long ago.. then, a friend of mine told me about Golden Egg Tart Bakery located in Gandaria City..

so there was this one visit we made to Gandaria City, then decided to buy half a dozen of Portuguese egg tarts home (Rp6,000 each).. Golden Egg Tart Bakery serves Portuguese egg tarts (puff pastry based), Chinese egg tart (pastry based) with various fillings and other bakery products.. let me tell you that their Portuguese egg tart was simply great! top notch! delicious! 

imagine, crunchy pastry filled with soft egg custard.. the sweetness level was just right and as my mom would say, a perfect companion to drink hot black coffee.. love it, indeed :) *drool*

Ya Kun Kaya Toast

Ya Kun Kaya Toast is one of the most popular kopitiam in South East Asia.. opened their first coffee stall in Singapore, Ya Kun Kaya Toast has became a phenomenon of how simple menus can really brought world wide.. it focused on selling traditional Singaporean style of breakfast, including kaya toast, soft boiled egg, tea and coffee.. 

a few weeks ago, I visited Gandaria City for a Saturday date with bf.. after a tiring walk around the huge mall, we decided to give our feet some rest and there we spotted Ya Kun Kaya Toast.. it was located in rather secluded area of the mall and lucky for us, it was not full.. first, we placed our orders at the cashier includes yuanyang ping (Rp13,437) for me, milo ping (Rp18,637) for him and a portion of traditional kaya toast (Rp13,638) to be shared..

I always love their traditional kaya toast.. their toast was very crunchy.. why? I wondered.. then I found that the toast was not made from white bread, but brown bread which was toasted over real charcoal fire until crisp.. now that's really something or sesuatu banget yaa.. haha.. the kaya was not overly sweet, which I really like.. it tasted perfect combined with the butter.. it's truly a perfect combination for my tongue.. 


my favorite drink here would be yuanyang ping.. it was a mix of coffee and milk tea, originated from Hong Kong.. how to describe its taste ya? it tasted like mixture of coffee, milk and tea.. haha.. bottom line is it was delicious and tasty.. I mean, you can have all the three basic drinks in one glass.. I didn't try bf's drink, but I believe iced chocolate milk can never go wrong :)

Roppan

Continuing our journey in Gandaria City.. my mom and I decided to have something sweet for our tooth.. on one corner in the Ground Floor, we spotted this quite crowded stall, called Roppan with the tagline 'Toast for Happiness'.. it was around 3 p.m and it's very packed.. we decided to stop by to take a glance at the menu, then found it quite attractive for a try..

like I said, it was really crowded.. anyway, Roppan served various drinks, including coffee, tea and even beer which was mixed with chocolate.. since it was late afternoon and we weren't too hungry, we decided to share a cup of Hot Roppanccino (Rp23,000).. which I thought supposed to be a Japanese style of cappuccino.. it tasted just okay, in my opinion.. however, my mom, as a coffee expert, thought that the coffee was not good and smelly.. so she didn't like it.. so I supposed that I shouldn't recommend this drink.. I did notice that they have a unique drink, which is a glass of beer topped with chocolate and flavored beer.. maybe they're better than my roppanccino.. but I don't drink beer, so maybe I should just try something else haha..

of course, we didn't only order a cup of Hot Roppanccino, we also ordered their special dessert, Ogura Honey Toast (two scoops-Rp27,000).. it's a stack of bread, toasted with honey and topped with Ogura ice cream and blueberry sauce.. I think this dessert was quite famous for Japanese style of dessert, but I have never tried it.. for me.. it tasted nice.. I love honey and toasted bread combined.. it's not too sweet, but just right.. the warm bread then eaten with a cold ogura ice cream.. now, we're talking about dessert :) too bad, their scoop of the ice cream was so small, I should have ordered the three-scoops instead..

see how it was so appetizing? haha.. and it's not even an appetizer.. other than ogura, Roppan also served green tea ice cream, which will be my menu for the next visit.. one thing I have to complain is the service.. I don't know whether it was so crowded, but our honey toast took so long to come out.. I even noticed that there were some people coming after us got their order first.. the table was not clean, I can still feel that it was sticky and we have to ask the waiter to clean it.. I wonder whether they have cleaned it properly before we sit.. another issue was when we asked for tissue, the waiter handed us one piece of tissue, while there were two of us.. I have to ask for one more time, and here goes another ONE piece of tissue.. I suppose if there were ten of us, it'll be ten times of asking tissue..

Eat & Eat Food Market

last week, I had another date with my mom.. Eat & Eat Food Market is one of the top food court in Jakarta, I guess.. their tagline is 'Creating Food Adventure'.. unlike other food courts which only provided tables and seats, Eat & Eat Food Market design the food court in a old chinese-peranakan market styel.. it was managed by PT Marche Indonesia and now has two outlets, one in Mall Kelapa Gading 5 and the other one in Gandaria City.. what I love about this food court is the food they offer are so various, raging from Chinese food to Indonesian food.. I mean, you can find stalls that don't exist anywhere else.. the drinks and dessert section is also one attractive corner :)

at the time we visited, it was on Sunday and lunch time so it was really, really crowded.. I mean, there were people everywhere, it's quite hard to find a table.. lucky for us, we got a small table on the corner, so we don't see too many people passing around us.. due to the crowd, I was unable to take proper pictures of the place, so you can just go here to see better pictures :) to eat here, first, you have to go to the cashier and pay certain amount of money.. the cashier will give you a card filled with amount you have paid, that card can now be used to pay your food..

all right, back to business.. here's what my mom ordered.. Fish a la Thai includes rice (Rp25,454) in a stall named 'Singapore Chicken Rice'.. it's one of the most crowded stall in the whole food court.. this dish was nice.. the fish was tender and fresh.. deep fried fish served with Thai special sauce, carrot slices and fresh young mango slices.. it tasted sweet and sour, best eaten with a plate of hot plain rice :) me likey..  

I decided to order something not rice.. I picked noodle instead, so I spotted a stall called 'Beef Noodle' then checked on the menu and decided to ordered Chicken Noodle a la Hu (Rp27,272) and Jumbo Cakue (Rp5,909).. we can choose the noodle between small noodle, large noodle or kway tiaw.. I opted small noodles.. a portion of this noodle consisted of quite a lot of condiments, including chicken, half of boiled egg, pieces of salted fish, fish meatballs, fish cake, seaweed and pok choi.. I think it was delicious.. turns out that seaweed and noodle matched each other.. the salted fish adds a unique taste for the noodle.. I love this dish. it was a little too salty for me, but it was acceptable :) however, the jumbo cakue was deep fried once you place your order, then it was cut into pieces and served with a special sweet-sour sauce.. it was just okay for me.. nothing was quite special..
