Momi & Toys Creperie

I can't believe how long I have abandoned this blog.. well, things have been really, really busy with all the work stuffs.. irresponsible me.. anyway, let's go to business with this new post..

Momi & Toys Creperie stood out to introducing themselves as a creperie.. I considered this is a brave act since crepes is not a popular dish here in Jakarta for main course.. we, Indonesian people, love rice too much as our staple food that we usually pass those restaurants not selling rice.. however, I believe that Momi & Toys Creperie managed to steal the attention.. located in Plaza Senayan, this small eatery have their own fans..

simply decorated in blue and wood furniture, I found this place really intimate and very cozy.. I love my spot, on the corner of the store where I can definitely have my own quite time.. if I had not gone there with my mom, I believed I would have lost the trace of time and spent the entire day there having my personal me-time.. anyway, it was a lovely Saturday evening and we were having our early light dinner..

a refreshing ice green tea and honey lemon frutte to start our evening.. the honey lemon frutte was very refreshing but a tad too sweet for my taste buds.. I personally would prefer more sourness in my drink.. the ice green tea was somehow nice.. it has the clean and really smooth taste.. perhaps some other time, I need to travel to Japan and taste the real green tea..

for our crepes, we opted strawberry cream with choco ice cream and original chicken salad with mayonaise.. I expected that the chicken salad will come first, but somehow, our strawberry cream crepes come first.. my first impression was how small the portion was compared to the price.. upon tasting, I realized that the taste worth every Rupiah spent.. it was one silky, smooth crepes, simply combined with whipped cream and fresh strawberries then accompanied with chocolate ice cream.. the crepes was definitely a star.. I would want to eat them more.. the chocolate ice cream has a rough texture and not too sweet..

the savory crepes was a bit crispier than the sweet ones.. filled with chicken chunks, lettuce and mayonnaise, this one was another star.. I love how the whole dish blend harmoniously within one bite.. the small portion is the recurring issue, but the taste was superb..

I didn't record each price, but it was around Rp130,000 for all of the above dishes.. a bit pricey for a light meals.. I would still say it was worth it but perhaps will not visit this creperie too often as this may endangered my wallet..

[Revisit] De Luca

I'm the kind of person who has been having issues with weight ever since I was little.. and perhaps that's the main reason that I always *try* to keep my eating portion less than the average people.. gosh, how I envy you who can eat anything without gaining even an ounce of fat.. I easily gain weight and that's may be why I never had a full meal, as far as I can remember..

however, when it's Christmas season, there will always be an exception.. especially when De Luca offered a lunch package for Rp98,000++.. I fell into temptation and surrender right away.. the package consisted of soup of the day, main course (with several options), fresh fruits and drink (mineral water/lemon tea/hot tea).. so let's the full meal begins..

I started by ordering hot tea.. well, a little bitterness and warmth in a cup of tea is necessary to accompany the upcoming meal.. I love the cup and saucer, really.. where can I buy them? then along came a bowl of free bread, typical served in Italian restaurant.. I love the fact that the bread were still warm and I usually dip the bread in the mixture of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.. just a tiny bit as too much bread will end up ruining your appetite..

not so long after, the soup came.. it was minestrone vegetable soup with beef stock.. minestrone is Italian thick soup, quite famous apparently.. well, De Luca's minestrone was not too thick but somehow just the right consistency for my liking.. it tasted really refreshing with very fresh condiments.. I remember finding cucumber, tomatoes, onions, black olives and pumpkin.. it was a beautiful soup with very generous and well-cooked fillings..

onto the main course, the star of the day.. roasted rosemary chicken served with mashed potatoes and mix grilled vegetables.. why did I chose this? well, it's the most expensive menu of the main course options hihihi.. I'm typical girl who will bother to look at the price tag to determine my choice haha.. when it came, it looked really tempting.. two pieces of perfectly grilled chicken on top of tomato puree and mashed potatoes, beautifully arranged with grilled veggies.. what not to love about this dish's appearance? the moment of truth, the taste.. the chicken was very tender and well seasoned.. it went really well with the tomato puree and the still-crunchy veggies.. the mashed potato was silky and smooth, just the way I would have want it.. I didn't find it hard to finish the whole, big plate *big grin*

our lovely meal was closed with a plate of fresh fruits, consisted of red melon, watermelon and cherry.. such a perfect meal.. my tummy was really happy and it just boost my mood for the rest of the day..

overall, it was a good meal.. I love everything about it.. but definitely would come back for more Rosemary chicken.. as for now, do you have any experience eating a full-meal yourself? come and share it with me.. meanwhile, follow my twitter for more food!

Union | Brasserie, Bakery & Bar

finally.. I had the chance to try the busiest eatery in Jakarta called Union.. actually, I had my birthday in February and my best friend had promised take me here to try the famous red velvet cake.. turns out that he's a man of his words by fulfilling his promise.. he even made a reservation for Saturday lunch on Wednesday! haha.. such an effort, I really appreciate it.. thank you so much..

so that Saturday afternoon, the traffic was quite horrible and when we arrived, the place was already very crowded.. and to my disappointment, although we have made the reservation, we still have to wait for our table.. imagine if you come without making any reservation.. once we were seated, I directly go through the menu.. the menu offered is very various.. our friend has recommended us what to order so I went to the beverages menu directly.. to brighten up my Saturday, I decided to have caramel macchiato (Rp25,000).. for food, we share classic oxtail soup (Rp70,000) and chicken noodle with foie gras (Rp75,000) then ended our lunch with a slice of red velvet cake (Rp50,000)..

classic oxtail soup

first of all, I love my caramel macchiato so much.. it was creamy and not overly sweet.. our lunch came not long after we ordered, which a plus point after having to wait for a reserved table.. some of you might wonder why we picked those dishes, instead of the safe Western brunch menu.. it was because I was told that Union's best dishes is their Asian dishes.. so let's find out..

when the chicken noodle arrived, I thought it was just an ordinary bowl of noodle in such a small portion remembering the price.. but turns out that the portion was quite fulfilling and this dish was actually very delicious.. I love the noodle texture and the seasoning.. it's actually my first time trying foie gras and it was delicious, the star of the dish.. the classic oxtail soup came in a huge bowl accompanied with a portion of warm rice.. the oxtail was very tender and the soup was rich in flavor.. unfortunately, the carrots were under-cooked..

red velvet cake

lastly, the star of our lunch.. the cake that has been mentioned in every food blog, I supposed.. I have been dying to try this cake worth of Rp50,000/slice.. I mean, what kind of cake could be that expensive? well, when it arrived on our table, I was directly tempted.. bright red cake layers with vanilla frosting and peanut-sugar crumbs.. one bite of it and I was definitely in love.. the cake was moist, which I love the most.. vanilla frosting and peanut-sugar crumbs were just a match made in heaven.. I guessed, it was not overrated, this cake.. I love every bite of it.. oh, be very careful, it is addictive..

Monolog Quality Coffee Co.

another new place in town.. well, it's been a while but I haven't had the chance to write any review about it.. sorry, been quite busy lately.. it's Monolog Quality Coffee Co... located in Plaza Senayan right in front of De Luca.. this place has such a warm and welcoming ambiance.. dominated in a wooden furniture, this place really spoil me to spend hours there.. it's actually my current favorite hang out place.. the atmosphere was very relaxing and though it was crowded, I always managed to get a table without having to wait..

my first visit was around a month ago.. I remembered it was Saturday and I have to work overtime at office.. I finished working around 9 p.m and my best friend came to pick me up.. we ended up hanging out at this place to boost my ruined mood haha.. since it was quite late, we only order drinks.. I picked hot cappuccino (Rp26,000) while he picked thai iced tea (Rp28,000).. my cappuccino was very cute as it was heart-shaped.. it tasted nice especially after I add the brown sugar.. lately, it became my habit to mix my coffee with brown sugar.. it brought such a unique flavor and I love it.. unfortunately, his thai iced tea was very sweet that he didn't even bother to finish it..

when we placed our orders, we were advised that there's a 50% discount for pastries, since it was above 8 p.m.. of course a 50% discount is too good to be passed.. we ended up add raisin pastry (Rp8,000 after discount) to accompany our talks.. it was warm and crunchy.. a very good deal, really.. its sweetness is just right for my tongue and I really like it..

a week ago, I went back to Monolog with the very same person for another chat.. it's been a tough year for us, apparently haha.. I ordered hot latte (Rp28,000) and it came just as cute as cappuccino.. as usual, I add the brown sugar and it tasted really good.. I like latte better than the cappuccino.. with such a cute appearance, I almost didn't want to stir my drink haha.. overall, I always enjoy my time at Monolog.. the coffee was good, the waiters are very kind and helpful.. the ambiance is the best.. and during my last visit, the alley between Monolog and De Luca is decorated to welcome Christmas which I love so much..

De Luca

I bet it's one of the hippest place for Jakarta's young adults to hang out.. apparently I'm one of those crowd haha.. De Luca is one of the newest Italian restaurant opened in Plaza Senayan, Jakarta.. it's been a while actually since my last visit to Plaza Senayan.. it used to be the hippest mall but once lost its charm, and now it has re-reign as the most crowded mall in Jakarta.. we, Jakarta people, love malls haha..

I've been really busy at work and I really need some rest, so on one Saturday, a friend and I went to Plaza Senayan to have some talks and updates.. we intended to eat at Union, but it was just too full, so we headed to De Luca, found it not crowded and decided to have our lunch there.. the restaurant was very nicely decorated that I would spend hours without getting bored haha.. I love their wooden furniture and dim light.. it just made the atmosphere really warm :)

the menu was quite extensive.. they offered various Italian dishes which made me a little confused picking what to eat haha.. the menu is dominated with pasta dishes and some entree, pizza and a very little spot left for desserts.. the pasta section were divided into three categories, creamy sauce pasta, tomato sauce pasta and aglio olio pasta.. oh, the best thing about Italian restaurants is the free bread haha..  De Luca presented us with a small basket of fresh bread which was warm and delicious.. such a good compliment to start our lunch..

for drinks, I picked hot coffee latte (Rp32,000) while my friend picked iced lychee tea (Rp35,000).. the coffee was good and presented very cute with a heart-shaped foam on top.. I love the cup so much I wished I could bring it home.. I didn't try his tea but I heard that it was also good..

it didn't take a long time for our lunch to arrived.. mine was farfalle with beef bacon & mushroom (Rp68,000) while his was spinach cannelonni (Rp68,000).. first, farfalle was a bow tie shaped pasta.. second, my farfalle was al dente.. complimented nicely with the creamy sauce, topped with beef bacons, mushrooms and cheese.. suddenly, the world is a better place haha.. seriously, it was really delicious.. the cream sauce was just right.. I mean, it was creamy but not the type which avoid you to finish your dish..

my friend's cannelonni was also great.. it came in a huge portion, a rolled pasta filled with spinach and minced beef topped with melted cheese and dressed with tomato sauce.. are you drooling? haha.. I did try a bite of it and I loved it.. I'm kinda weak for Italian dishes haha..

overall, De Luca, in my opinion, offers a great ambiance to hang out and have small talks with your close friends along with great food.. a little pricey, I guess, but I think I have to say that it was worth every Rupiah spent.. there's actually one thing that bothers me about the service.. as we were eating and talking, we spend quite a while to finish our meal.. and right when there's a bite of cannelonni left on my friend's plate, a waitress came and asked whether she can clean up the plates.. we were quite confused and directly said that he had not finished his meal.. it was quite annoying but forgiven thanks to the good food..
